Kathy 's Story

Life Following high school, I worked as a laboratory technician (plant physiology) for USDA in Beltsville, Maryland, while attending the U. of Md. in College Park. After receiving a BS in horticulture, I moved to Madison, Wisconsin, and worked for the Fish and Wildlife Service as a lab tech (microbiology) for the National Wildlife Health Center. My next position was with the Fish and Wildlife Service as a biologist with the Columbia National Fisheries Research Laboratory in Columbia, Missouri. While there, I earned a masters degree in fisheries and worked as a technical...Expand for more
information specialist for the Contaminant Information Transfer Project. Wanting warmer climes, I moved to Pensacola, Florida, where I worked for the US Navy as a biologist and then technical editor and public affairs officer for the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory. In 2004, I retired from the Federal government with 35 years of service. In 2005, my husband and I relocated to Las Cruces, New Mexico, to experience the desert southwest. Needing a change of scenery, we moved to Georgetown, Texas. I have two stepdaughters, two granddaughters, and one Papillon.
